★★☆☆☆
It's ok. It seems to work. It is S...L...O...W...
I bought this to be the utility "office" machine for our house, mainly to scan incoming mail before shredding and to do occasional printing. Good thing we don't need it for anything more substantial because it is SLOW for both operations. Can't wait to see how many pages we get out of the initial cartridges (I don't have great expectations...).
The setup via an app I had to download to my phone was a nightmare. It easily took me 15 frustrating minutes of typing with my thumbs and cursing to navigate the account setup, the wifi login, the pairing, and finally the equipment setup. Never have I ever experienced such a painful process since plug-and-play became a thing...
Setting it up on the laptop next to it was a little easier, only because I already had the HP Smart software already installed. Still wasn't a walk in the park, but it got done without cursing.
Do be aware that the display screen on the printer itself is fairly useless. It is small and doesn't really offer much.
As long as it's still working, I'll keep it. If it starts misbehaving, I'll drop the rating.
I originally rated it a 3 and have dropped it to a 2 because it is easily, hands down, the absolute SLOWEST printer I have ever had in my life. EVER. The SLOWEST. I've owned probably 3 dozen printers in the past 25 years (working as a programmer and a photographer), and none have EVER been this freaking slow. It is PAINFUL how slow it is. You could almost chisel stone faster. If speed is no issue, I guess it's ok. Otherwise, well, probably anything is better than this.
