★☆☆☆☆
Poorly written.
It's worth seeing if you are a Star Trek completist. Be aware that this is attempting to be in the style of modern Syfy channel or cable channel shows and the writing is all over the place. The ending is absurd, its basically impossible to believe that this takes place in the same universe as TNG, and Picard does not act like Picard. It's one thing for a man to be defeated and regret his past. It's another for Jean-Luc Picard to suffer a setback, quit, mourn Data for 20 years and completely give up. Its frankly, unbelievable. And Data's ending is bizarre and out of character as well. Also, if you enjoy seeing Picard get knocked around and be wrong for half the series, you'll love this. Also, you will be excited and full of nostalgia when watching it but as soon as each episode is over, the more you think about it, the less it makes sense. That is all beside the fact that plotlines are dropped, make no sense, and that if this didn't have Star Trek in the title, it would probably be cancelled after one season. One positive thing this show does over recent Trek like Discovery is that the pace is not so frenetic that you can't tell what is happening. They let it breathe and have chilled out on the wild camera movements. It's worth seeing. It's not worth 45 dollars.
