Problematic formulation for MSG-sensitive individuals
I bought this to replace a Deplin prescription I got from my doctor. It contains the same amount of L-methylfolate as Deplin, but the carrier is much simpler -- instead of a bunch of different ingredients to help the L-methylfolate survive the trip through your stomach, it just has 250mg of Glycine. Glycine is often used as an inexpensive buffer to protect medicines and supplements from stomach acid, but after the third day of feeling like the world was ending, I did some research and found out that Glycine can hypersensitize the central nervous system in much the same way that MSG can. Well, that sucks. If you're folate-deficient and you're not sensitive to MSG, this will probably work for you; if you *are* sensitive to MSG, look for a L-methylfolate supplement that doesn't contain large amounts of Glycine.
