I'm half deaf in my left ear, but even so, this unit is extremely loud while it's cooking. And it's not a nice background hum, but an angry buzz as if it were constructed with a whole nest worth of angry hornets sealed inside and trying to get out to murder you. But seriously, the buzz sounds more like something is broken rather than a normal operational sound, so it's both distracting and worrying. On the plus side, the power rating seems accurate, and it heats up your food quickly. Also, it seems to use its size efficiently, providing a roomy interior in a compact package. This is little consolation when you're expecting to be sterilized shortly before it explodes and burns your house down.
