EXTREMELY Inaccurate--Useless for the Purpose of Counting Steps
I wanted to love this item. I just wanted something simple to count steps and did not want to deal with the set up on a fancy device or all the unwanted options that come with them. I took and counted 30 steps, from my living room to my kitchen sink. the device recorded 37, more than 20% off. I then picked up my water glass, filled it with water from the faucet took a sip and set the glass down--smooth, slow movements--and the device now said 51 steps, when I had still taken only 30. Any time I sit down or stand up, the device adds at least 12-15 steps, sometimes 20. It is over 20% off with regular walking. Any movement whatsoever will add a massive amount of steps that you have not actually taken. Reaching over and picking up my cell phone while seated, or typing on my laptop while seated each add many extra steps. I used to have a Fitbit and it was almost 100% accurate. I would have been happy if this device was about 90% accurate. But $25 is too much to pay for a pedometer that does not work and counts multiple steps for the slightest movement of any type. I would estimate that if you ONLY wear this during dedicated walking time and not during the rest of your life that it may be about 75% accurate during continuous, steady walks. But it is definitely less than 50% accurate if you want to wear it to track your steps throughout a normal day's activities. If this had been a cheap $10 pedometer I would not have been so disappointed. But for $25, I expected it to work. This is a huge ripoff. I am very disappointed.
