DON'T TAKE IF YOU'RE ON BIRTH CONTROL, PREGNANT, OR BREASTFEEDING. Estrogen, bleeding, diarrhea...
After having a really bad week, I decided to dig into this supplement because it was the only thing different that I was taking. Here's what I found: Echinacea shouldn't be taken for more than 6 months continuously. If you have seasonal allergies, you may experience an allergic reaction to echinacea. Echinacea's side effects are fever, nausea, vomiting, bad taste, stomach pain, diarrhea, sore throat, dry mouth, headache, numbness of the tongue, dizziness, difficulty sleeping, feeling disoriented, and joint and muscle aches. Goldenseal can cause excitability, hallucinations, constipation, delirium, digestive disorders, irritation of the mouth/throat/vagina, skin irritation, and increased sensitivity to sunlight. Red clover causes estrogen-like side effects (bloating, breast tenderness, irregular menstrual periods, decreased sex drive, weight gain, mood changes), as well as rash, muscle ache, headache, nausea, and vaginal bleeding/spotting. The worst ingredient on the list, is Stillingia sylvatica. Stillingia is purported to "treat cancer", at least, it is by people selling the snake oil known as Hoxsey Herbal Therapy. Here's the truth about Stillingia: Stillingia contains diterpene esters, toxic irritants that can cause swelling and inflammation of the skin. Side effects include dizziness, burning sensation on mucous membranes, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, muscle aches, skin itching and/or eruptions, cough, fatigue, and sweating. According to Memorial Sloan Kettering, one of the most advanced and trusted medical and research centers, THERE IS NO EVIDENCE to support use of Stillingia to treat any medical conditions. Side effects I experienced include, increased joint pain (I have arthritis), cough (especially troubling during this pandemic), increased sensitivity to sunlight (developed rashes on my neck and chest when I went outside), diarrhea, and vaginal bleeding. I was very disheartened to learn about red clover's side effects, because it can interrupt birth control protection (even a hormonal IUD). I'm honestly a bit shocked that this company decided to include Stillingia in this product. It has zero medical benefits and is in fact toxic. There should be tons of warnings on the label, but there isn't. I'm also concerned that it has the Prop 65 warning on the label that was cleverly covered up by Amazon's label. Why are we ingesting something known to cause reproductive harm? Please do your research, folks. Oh, and this product also did nothing for my chronic lymphedema. I don't often return products like this to Amazon, but when I do, there's a good reason for it. Heed my advice, and avoid this stuff like the plague, especially if you're a woman capable of reproducing. Whether you're breastfeeding, pregnant, or on birth control, this will mess you up.
