★★☆☆☆
Can't justify keeping these.
I was quite torn on how to rate these boots. Let me explain. The fur is a fun chinchilla/wolf coloration, so it is not dated. The "leather" is slightly distressed-looking, and, that, along with the cute buckles and the hiking boot laces, make the boots look current. They also have pretty good non-slip qualities, and the rubber part don't have a weird powdery film on them like some rainboots have. I sized up 1/2 a size, based on other reviewers, so they fit fine. Overall, on the surface, they are cute for duck boots & are a good value. However, let's examine them further....(1) I guess I should have looked at all of the pictures more carefully, especially the full frontal view (get your mind out of the gutter - you know what I mean) which was really blurry on my computer screen. The "fur" only comes all the way to the lacing panel on the outer side of the boot. ( I've posted a picture so that you can see what I am talking about, just in case the full frontal picture provided is blurry for you too.) On the inside of the inner side of the ankle of the boot, the "fur" stops at the zipper. I am sure that saves on the cost of production, and, therefore, results in a lower price, but seriously?! They are lopsided! OK, so that's my fault for not looking at the picture clearly, so I'll go on with the other issues. (2) The "fur" is cute from a distance, but they have a fun-fur texture - really scratchy. I guess if you wear thick socks all the time, that wouldn't bother you; however, you'd then have to size up even further. (3) The fun fur continues on the inside of the boot, lining the shaft and the footbed. (see my socks comment from #2) This will undoubtedly help to keep my toes warm. The problem is that the fur is glued down on the footbed on top of whatever material/cushioning they've got going on. Usually, that's fine & I don't normally feel the need to lift up the lining from the footbed in my shoes. In this case, there's some kind of weird covergence of cushioning material or glue or fur or something at midfoot in my left boot. They are fine for the first 2 minutes, but they then start to feel like there's a huge wrinkle in your sock & you can't do anything to smooth it out. (4) The tongue keeps moving to the inside of my ankle on both boots. So now, I've got huge wrinkly socks and my boots are crooked. The only reason I didn't give these a 1 star is that (a) it's my own fault for buying shoes for which I couldn't clearly view all of the pictures, (b) maybe my pair of boots were a fluke with that wrinkly footbed issue, (c) despite all of these issues, they are super cute & super inexpensive & I wish I could keep them.
