So I ordered 2 of these. One worked just fine and the other one didn't. Here was the problem with the 2nd one. Between the stand section and the hydraulic jack bottle is a space where the latch needs to be able to move freely. On the jack that works that space is probably about 1/4 inch, and on the non-working one that space is between 1/16-1/8 inch. So clearly their manufacturing and quality assurance process isn't great if you've got that much variation on a critical component/area. The problem is that as you lift a vehicle higher and higher, that space becomes small and smaller. I guess the jack and stand start leaning into each other a bit. At a certain point the space becomes so small that the latch that locks the stand in place can't travel freely, which makes the stand useless at the higher settings! If this was a toy or some other less important thing, I could probably just jam something in there to keep that space open so everything worked fine. However, this is a tool I'm trusting my life to in a lot of ways, and I'd rather it work perfectly than risk some terrible accident if my jury-rig fix doesn't work. I think this is a neat product and is very useful when it works. I really hope the manufacturer reads this review and fixes their manufacturing process to prevent this on future models. I've returned the defective one and ordered a replacement...we'll see if this next one works, I hope it does. Perhaps then I'll update my review.
