Might not be fair, but frankly, I don't want to deal with the hassle. I don't know what the signs would be ginger has gone bad. And frankly, I'm under the impression that spices simply loose their potency, not change in any significant way. This did not smell anything like ginger. It does not have that noticeable tangy, almost sweet smell. It is very biting, bitter. You can catch the same scent in curry powder if you ignore the smell of curry. I can't identify the spice, but someone else here said they were told it was tumeric. The packaging does say batch tested, so unless it really is a side effect of getting old, this clearly is not the product advertised. I took a chance on it, I suggest you don't do the same.
