My husband and I bought this product and had been using this for the last few months as a soy sauce substitute in cooking meals. We had been using and storing it properly along the way, but did notice a slight bit of mold on the inside of the lid after some time. Since this was primarily being used in cooking where heat was involved, we were not initially overly concerned since we figured that the heat would handle any bacteria - as it does with other foods like meat, etc. As we reached the bottom quarter of the container we noticed something solid at the bottom of the container. My husband cut the top off to try and discern what this might be to discover this organism the size of the palm of his hand down there. We both felt sickened by the idea that this could have been down there all along. We contacted the company via email and through their phone number on the back of the bottle on more than one occasion and have received nothing in response. We are not trying to hurt a company who is trying to produce a product that is a viable alternative for those who are looking for healthy options, but we are very disappointed by the complete lack of customer service over an issue that could have lead to serious health concerns had we been using this product right out of the container. Since we received no resolution from the company, we feel that it is important to share our experience with others to inform them about the potential hazards of this product. The sight of these pictures still sends shivers down our spines.
