I bought one of these for our northern home just before we left to go south. it developed a sound, but I did not think too much of it -- thought maybe it needed adjusting. I bought a second bike when we got to our southern home. I mean you can not beat the price and they are made heavy duty. But the second bike developed the same squeak-- almost like the wheel is bent. So i took this one apart. In my opinion part of the problems is the terrible instruction provided for assembly. They have all big parts marked, so that's no problem. the problem is the small parts around the pedals. To tell the truth, I am not sure I have these assembled correctly? There is a bearing that if not put in correctly would of course cause a big problem... I hate it when people who do not know try and tell me how to run my business -- so i am very hesitant to say this.. but i think a redesign of the pedal could make this bike a tank in durability! Beefing up the pedal bearing/bushing would go along way to making my review a 5 star. As things stand now-- I need a bike to stay in shape and for my health. if i will be able to keep these bikes -- I do not know. I am hopeful. i like the bike so well, it may even be worth the expense of having my welder weld new pedals to the bike.. perhaps a high quality bicycle pedal? In an hour i will reassemble the bike i took apart and see how long I can make it last... Really love the product -- but would be very happy if it worked better! Sincerely, D. UPDATED- it only took a day more and I found the reason for the noise. I replaced the pedal and added some lithium grease, 27 minutes later the pedal came loose. I checked and found the broken weld pictured. One photo is of the other side where the weld is fine, the second pix is of the weld that broke. Tomorrow I intend to take the fly wheel off to see if my welder can make the repair -- This happened after only 2 weeks of use! Not at all great guys... Hopefully I can repair it FINAL UPDATE-- Customer service was actually very good. After about a week they emailed me back asking for me to pick the part that need replacing (I was within the 6 month warrantee). Then they next day shipped the part to me at no cost. Included with the part was the tool needed to remove it. They also followed up with an email that had a link to video showing how to remove/replace the part. Once I had the part off the bike, it was apparent that it had not been welded properly. The part coming off was welded in a different way then the part that was shipped to replace it. <need I say Chinese?> Bike still squeaks-- My recommendations: 1. Get your wife to watch you fix the bike, it is almost impossible to do without her watching-- 2. The design of the bike is so good, make a second UPGRADED version for sale at a higher price, I'd happily pay up for the same design made with better quality. I left the ONE STAR RATING SO THE REVIEW WOULD BE READ. I'D ACTUALLY CHANGE THAT TO A 4 STAR REVIEW AFTER THE GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE FOLLOW UP - thanks!
