For what it’s worth, I originally loved this press. Sure, it’s a pain to take apart each time in order to clean it but it worked so well that it was something I was willing to accept. That is, until today when the coating on it started peeling off while I was rinsing it. For context, we always hand wash it and never put it in the dishwasher. We also never let it touch the actual meat. (We use liners on top and bottom). So I’m not sure why it suddenly started coming off today, especially since I hadn’t even started applying soap yet. When I started rinsing it, it was fully coated. By the time I was done spraying, it has almost all come off at once. (See video.) This seems like a serious food-safety or contamination issue.
