“NO GREASE” in those Commercial-Grade Steel Ball Bearings, like there “SHOULD BE” -
In July 2020 I purchased a TEETER LT3 for $1,200.00, ($200.00 more than the LT1, because of the UPGRADES, like the handles, seat and pedals. But the biggest reason I wanted it was the upgrade with the UltraGlide Bearings - Commercial-Grade Steel Ball Bearings are an upgrade over the plastic bushings at each pivot point for advanced fluidity of motion, resulting in effortless startup and stride transitions and longer-life. So originally, I gave it 5-stars across the board, because I really felt, after putting it together and seeing it up close and personal, plus using it for several weeks straight that it was in fact a very well thought out and built piece of equipment.. Now the Bad News - In just under two months of use, I want to update my REVIEW... It has started producing an extremely annoying clicking noise, like the bearings were going dry. Unfortunately, the only way to actually locate and try to fix the issue was to start removing ALL of the covering panels. (At more than 70 years old, I’ve never shied-away from taking anything apart, so I dug right in.) After getting the panels removed, I was able to trace the clicking sound to, you guessed it, those ($200.00) Commercial-Grade Steel Ball Bearings that I wanted over the cheaper plastic versions. (Figures!) But the absolute most disappointing part was to discover that the manufacture had used some “BASTARD-SIZE” hardware, Not SAE, nor METRIC, leaving me with no way to remove the bearings and properly pack them with my high quality lithium grease, like they SHOULD have done to begin with!!! I did manage to spray some white lithium grease onto all of the bearing surfaces, which made the clicking noise disappear.. It just, quiet frankly, really ticks me off that some TWIT, screwed everything up by NOT doing what should have been done from the get-go.. “PACK-THE-BEARINGS” Properly!!! As it turns out, especially since there is no way in hell that I’m going through what I just had to do, for a temporary fix again, so I’m choosing to leave the panels removed, so I can re-grease the bearings as needed.. ALSO, if this gets back to the manufacture: “PLEASE Start Packing ALL Bearings Properly, both plastic and Those Commercial-Grade Steel Ball Bearings alike!!! Also, the Handles could stand to be moved outward a little further... And as far as the read-out on the display panel, well, I am in agreement with several other customers... That set-up sucks as well!! As one man stated; It simply NEEDS a internal LED light so you can read the silly thing!!! Otherwise you need an overhead ceiling light on all the time you work out to see it!!! Duhhh -
