I used one of these at a hotel room and really liked it, so I ordered one for myself. I was excited to see the battery backup, so my alarm would be sure to go off. First night using it, our power went out. My alarm didn't go off, so was late to work, kids late to school. I figured I did something wrong in the setup, so I downloaded the user manual and looked it up. Much to my surprise, the battery backup only keeps the time, but does not keep the alarm setting. So, if your power goes off in the middle of the night, your alarm won't go off in the morning, but you'll know exactly how late you are for work once you wake up. Really. As an alarm clock, you have one job. That's to wake me up in the morning. Since the battery backup doesn't save the alarm setting, you've failed me, so you're headed back.
