Inaccurate Step count (With Updates)
I was so excited when I learnt that the Charge / Charge HR was getting an update. I previously owned a charge and misplaced it so I was about to upgrade to the HR when I learnt of this one. I love the size of the screen, the overall look and all the extra features compared to the Charge and the watch does feel sturdier than its predecessor.
A previous reviewer mentioned that it sits a bit off the wrist because of the bulk of the heart rate sensor. (Picture attached) I found that also although it wasn't uncomfortable or noticeable unless I intentionally try to look under it.
I loved that It checks heart rate and provides charts of my calories burned, calculates my cardio fitness level based on my heart rate (super cool!), guided breathing based on your own breathing patterns (awesome!) and of course the existing and useful sleep tracking. I had no problem with the intensity of the vibrations for the alarm, but I am a light sleeper.
My BIGGEST peeve with this tracker is that it doesn't count steps accurately if counting at all. I walk from room to room and check the step counter after every room and if it moves it barely counts 12 steps. The other times it doesn't count at all. Wore it on an extremely busy day and counted 4000+ steps. Wore it to bed on the 2nd night I had it and went to the bathroom 3 times in the night. In the morning it only registered 4 steps. I do not sleep beside my toilet. Ridiculous. What's the point in having a fitness tracker if it doesn't track accurately??
So while I like the look and feel of the tracker. It's functionality is basically useless. I hope it's a problem that can be fixed via update because I really want to keep using this device.
UPDATE
Visited their help forum and a lot of people are having this issue. Contacted their customer care and was told to manually adjust my stride length and ensure my wrist placement is correct (I'm guessing that means wear it further up?) I've done that and will see if it makes a difference over the course of a day.
UPDATE 2:
Updated firmware (an update was released since purchase), reset device multiple times, tried different wrist placements and adjusted my stride length. Still grossly inaccurate on all counts. Very disappointed as I was really into all the new features and the different metrics it displayed.
