All show and no go
It's been almost a year now since I started using this bag full time as a pilot working at a major US airline. I wish I could say good things about this product but I can't and I want to prevent others from paying this hefty price tag for what amounts to a terrible product manufactured with shoddy materials and backed with an even worse customer service department. If you plan to use this bag to hold your craft making materials or to separate your art supplies, I'm sure it will work perfectly - just don't plan to move the bag. At this price point, I was expecting something as tough and rugged as my Stealth roller bag, It's also expensive, but worth every dime. After 16 years of use and abuse, every zipper continues to operate perfectly and the material, although stained in some areas, continues to be strong and protect my belongings. Not so with the Flex B7. In less than a year, I've had 2 of the smaller zippers break into pieces, and I've had the larger zipper separate on 4 different occasions causing my "modular" bag to split into several pieces. Luckily, in every case, either I've noticed the problem or someone I was with mentioned to me that my bag was "falling apart". (Thank God since I carry expensive electronic flight bags, head sets, cell phones, flash lights and other important flying gear.) The final straw was when I tried to open a compartment holding my eye glasses and the zipper wouldn't budge. Despite using all my strength, the zipper was stuck. I ended up using my back up pair of glasses (in another compartment) and opened up the problem compartment with a knife when I got home. Also, just in regular use residing next to my seat in a Boeing 737, the bottom of the bag has become incredibly worn and paper thin. Again, this is in just under one year of use. This bag comes with a 3-year warranty so I sent pics of the offending zippers and areas to customer service. I was promptly told that this was normal wear and tear, and I "must have dragged the bag". No, I did not drag the bag. Did I sit it on the cockpit floor? Yes. Curbside? Yes. On my hotel carpet? Yes. All normal places, but no, I didn't drag it. Besides, the broke zipper is on the front of the bag, not the bottom. Again, for this kind of money I was expecting something more than a cheaply made, yet fancy-looking gym bag. I was expecting the professional durability and quality I've grown accustomed to with a Stealth bag. My mistake. Please learn from it. Time for another bag.
