Poor design and over exagerted features!
This review is for the Jackery Portable Power Station Explorer 1500. Apparently influencers give Jackery five stars. I was so excited to get this product after reading the reviews about Jackery. I've been hit financially by the pandemic and have reluctantly had to move into my minivan. I do not want to be a van-lifer so this is a real review in the practicality of using a Jackery for emergencies as promoted by Jackery.
The order arrived on time with all the components promised. Only one AC power adapter not two like another reviewer said. Still good so far. I contacted Jackery via email as that is the only way to reach them even though there are other options listed on their website.
My budget is very tight and took all I had to purchase the Jackery Portable Power Station Explorer 1500. It was going to be two more months before I could order the solar panels so needed to charge by AC temporarily. It takes 5 hours to charge via AC with one ac adapter so I sent an email and they finally respond. They sent me an additional AC charging adapter since you can't just order one on Amazon or on the website as should be the case. It takes a little over 2.5 hours to charge with 2 ac adapters so not a deal breaker but my access to an AC outlet is limited so pushing my circumstances. The real life problems come in with the weight. I can lift and carry 32lbs fairly easily but somehow carrying the Jackery Portable Power Station Explorer 1500 is like carrying 75lbs dead weight. Don't know how they did that but somehow it feels a lot heavier and is a real struggle to carry. In addition, for some odd reason, the AC outlets on the Jackery 1500 are too close together. They aren't on the other Jackery units but are on the 1500! So, if you have to charge something that has the large AC plugin (sorry, don't know what it's called) you will have room to plug in only one other AC plug so can't use the 3rd outlet, which is my case. I really, really need that 3rd AC outlet. The other outlet options are limited as well. My $1600 is starting to look like money not well spent. I'm really struggling a lot to use the unit for my situation. So I request a return and refund.
I have $1700 dollars tied up in this and Amazon will not let me tell the rest of my story on customer service and shipping but there is a lot to tell. This is real world experience and not hype. Read between the lines is all I can say.
