We have a spot in our back yard where nothing will grow. I've tilled in compost, and some type of nutrient with little blue crystals, the weeds grew, but no grass. And we tried kentucky grass, and then some starter seed that was suppose to grow no matter what. Well it seems to matter because nothing will grow there. We were in a local hardware store and this was on an end isle on sale, my optimistic husband said 'why not', and to sweeten the deal Bob Vila was on the bag, what's not to trust. Right? Wrong.... My husband would have slept by that bare patch of dirt if I'd have let him, he watered that patch, sat by it when he got home, even talked to it. He started to bring out the stereo but I stopped him, he said plants like music and grow better with music. After two weeks and constant weeding a few scraggly pieces of grass came up, we were so excited, finally something is growing, then the dogs ran by, barely disturbing the ground and this deep rooted grass was laying on the ground. Maybe the deep roots grow after all the seeds have germinated. I think our seed was either old, not fertile (is that possible), or just didn't work. The weeds have grown over that bare spot and that's just fine for me. We placed the other half of the bag in the garage next to all the other bags that didn't work.
