Please . . . Don't Waste Your Money - Make Your Own For A Fraction of the Cost
The concept of this design wall is good, but the quality is quite poor. I was excited to get this, but upon opening the package I was sorely disappointed. The quality is that of a cheap flannel-backed tablecloth I would expect to find at my local dollar store. The fuzzy side is so sparse, it's hard to believe it's described as flannel. The vinyl backing is also quite thin; I could see it cracking or splitting within a few uses if it's folded between uses or kept in a cold room. But the most immediately annoying thing about it is the strong chemical smell. I wouldn't want to place any fabric up against it. If I washed the thing before using it, I think it would fall apart. Fortunately, I bought this on sale for half price. I can't imagine anyone paying full price for it and think they got their money's worth for a useful quilting item. It's not worth my time, effort, gas money, and postage to return it; so I'll chalk this up as a lesson learned and by writing this review, hope that others can learn from my mistake. Do yourself a favor and either buy a flannel-backed tablecloth from your local discount store or a used flannel sheet from a thrift store. Then buy a Dritz grommet tool along with some grommets (or just make a series of small buttonholes at the top of the sheet to hang it by) and you'll have a much better quality item and a decent design wall for a fraction of the price of the F&P item. (That's what I plan on doing.) You won't have to worry about the quality or the chemical smell. In the end you'll pat yourself on the back and count yourself wise.
