Confusing and Very Disappointed
Okay, so I read Thinner Leaner Stronger: The Simple Science of Building the Ultimate Female Body by Michael Matthews. I tried to read most of this confusing and arrogant book. It's a typical guy workout book. Suppose you work eleven-hour days; this book is not for you. If you are retired with a gym membership, then this book maybe is excellent for you. The first few chapters got me excited, but it started to go downhill after chapter 4. Too much scientific information, take away keywords, and myths. Too much talk about calorie counting that doesn't work. Well, I don't think gram counting works either. The section on "How to make meal plans that really work" is confusing. You have grams, calories, protein, carbs, and fats listed in your charts. What's the difference between counting calories or counting grams for the day? We should eat fewer calories. Duh!
I believe this book is geared more towards someone that wants to be in the fitness industry with all the scientific information. It's another book that excites you up. It was a let down for me. This book is very confusing, condescending, and another sounds too good to be true, which I don't have that much time in a day to commit to anyway. I did not find the hush-hush secrets in this book (p.40); there isn't any!
I would love to see a workout book with less scientific talk, myths, and bashing the fitness industry; which I believe most people know this anyway.
I need a visual book with a better meal planner, grocery list, recipes, workout illustrations, and workout logs. Overall, I give this book a D+.
