After a great deal of research I opted for this bag to carry my work laptop, and it's laid out very well, with pockets for a laptop and tablet (or papers/notebook), and room for the usual business stuff (phone, pens, business cards, water bottle, etc...). Unfortunately this morning I was unzipping it and dropped it, with my laptop inside. It claims to have reinforced padding at the corners to prevent laptops from getting damaged, but although I dropped it from less than 3 feet (I was holding the top handle about waist high and I'm 5'5"), my laptop was damaged and the bag even ripped the outer layer. It was quite disappointed, and this definitely warrants 2 stars, because Everki specifically mentions this in its product details: "In addition to felt lining and ample padding, this bag features Everki's innovative integrated laptop corner guard system – molded, shock-absorbing pads embedded into the bottom that protect the corners of your device". After this happened I checked the thickness of those corners - the extra padding actually ends right where the rip is visible. You can actually feel it disappear with your fingers. To me that's a defect, or at least a really bad oversight that the padding disappears like that - right where the corner of my laptop hit the ground. From the outside you think, because of the outline of the stitching, that the entire corner is protected, but it's not! I wish I could get a picture of the inside of the bag to show you.
