I opened Quantum with anticipation that Cornwall had created another series as tautly written as the Scarpetta series. Woeful miscalculation. The pages of the first chapter’s of Quantum couldn’t be less compelling. Numerous and unnecessary side trips and backfill combined with agonizingly slow forward progress on the main story had me stop reading by Chapter 5. I just couldn’t stay awake. Nor was I interested in what was going to happen.
