Another Love-Hate Relationship With A Dyson Vacuum. Should Be Different For Its High Price
I bought the V6 Absolute cheaper elsewhere, and not here via Amazon.
There are two suction levels: Low and Max. There is a remarkable difference between the suction power between the two. If you doubt this, simply attach the dust brush and hold it at the bottom of your shirt. On low, your shirt will not be held on by the suction. On Max, your shirt will be held onto the suction quite nicely, and as you'd expect.
I am extremely disappointed by the low suction power when the vacuum is not on the Max setting, I do not wanna use it. It just is not good enough. But on the vastly superior Max setting, you get a measly 6-minutes of battery power.
For its high price Dyson could have rectified this situation by designing the vac with a removable battery, and then include a second battery you can keep charged. When your 6 minutes are up, simply swap the second battery...putting the first battery into a charger.
Also, disappointingly, you cannot use this vacuum while the battery is being charged. This might have been a helpful feature if one ran out of battery after the 6 minutes but really needed to finish up a job right away.
For this whopping price, to only get 6 minutes using the desired Max suction setting is extremely upsetting to me. Again, I find the low setting suction level to be way to weak.
I realize battery technology is still limited...which is why I suggested they could have made this vacuum be able to swap out the battery, etc.
I do love the soft roller brush. I do love the handling of the vacuum. I do love the suction when it is on Max (and only on Max). Filter cleaning is easy. So, like I said, Love/Hate.
Again, this is a vacuum that they MSRP'd and originally sold it at their site for $599. Right now, as I write this review, they discounted it to $479.99. That is a lot of money for just 6 minutes of battery life for the suction I expect and the suction power I want. (And they could have easily fixed this situation by designing it with a swap-able battery, and including a second battery.)
On a side note: Hopefully one day Dyson will make a Cinetic cordless that has no filters to clean, just like with their wonderful Cinetic Big Ball Animal + Allergy. Once Dyson can give us a Cinetic Cordless with no filters to clean and more than 6 minutes of battery life on Max suction setting...my feelings will go from Love/Hate, to just Love.
