Warranty is worthless. Don't expect compensation if your attached equipment gets damaged.
We've purchased dozens of APC UPSes over the years and have been generally pleased with them, but back in July, we had a computer which was protected by BE550G get damaged during a thunderstorm. The computer was fine before the storm and dead afterward, so it stands to reason that it was damaged by a power surge during the storm. We called APC to make a claim, and shipped off the UPS for them to inspect it. Fast forward to the end of October. After about a half-dozen phone calls to pester APC for some sort of response, we finally got test results. APC claimed that the BE550G is fine, and therefore has denied our claim. Really? Is it not possible for a UPS to pass excess voltage without suffering damage itself? We have been considering switching to a different brand of UPS, and this is a good motivation to do so.
