This book is about a blue truck that slowly meanders through the countryside, honking at all his farm friends who make animal noises back at him. Then, a dump truck who's not familiar with the area drives through in a hurry without acknowledging the farm animals and subsequently gets stuck in mud. The animals see he's in trouble yet ignore his cries for help but the little blue truck drives in to help the dump--and then the animals help the truck when it also gets stuck. My big issue is that the author uses the word "fat" to describe the truck's size in a negative way: "Into the mud rolled the big fat truck and his big important wheels got STUCK!" As a parent, I always want to make sure that the words I use (and read) affirm the respect and human dignity of others, which means not perpetuating weight stigma. There are so many better children's books out there than this one!
