Hopefully the later units are better.
It seems as the experiences with this 3D pen are rather hit or miss....Some customers seem to get good operating units and others get ones that don't work at all. I fit in the latter category, here are my experiences. I Did not buy mine on Amazon but was an initial supporter of the kickstarter campaign, It sounded cool and I was willing to wait 10 months for it. It broke pretty much right out of the box....My doodler ceased to function after two uses. It did not draw the ABS in nor push it out during the removal procedure. I removed, heated and cleaned out the tip. I took my laser thermometer and measured the temperature at the tip which only reached a maximum of 120 F....probably not good enough to melt the ABS (which melts at 221 F). I contacted customer service who was sure that it was clogged....instead of just asking me to send in the unit to be checked, they wanted a video of how it worked (I am not sure why they would want a video of it doing nothing???). I assured them that it was not clogged and the heating element was part of the issue and requested that they take back the unit to inspect it and fix it. At that point all customer service communication ceased....if it was not an easy fix, they were not going to help me at all. No further communication after that. The concerning part here is that I have yet to read a review where the customer got a bad unit and then had a good experience with 3Doodlers customer service.
