The fragrance of it is not bad but you have to question whether or not these things are necessary because if your toilet smells bad then you are an unclean unsanitary person, period. As to whether or not it masks bad smells I do not know because my toilet is not allowed to get anywhere near smelling like swill. Furthermore, the blue tabs create a gross looking blue sludge and particles throughout the standing toilet water which does not dissolve until your next flush. In other words, it does not dissolve completely it creates 'stuff'. yuk. Of course then you flush it because it looks gross and you can no longer smell the fragrance of it. Semi good idea, lousy product. For some reason I thought it might create a lasting kind of fragrance in the room like a real deodorizer but it does not.
