As overrated as it gets
Do yourself a favor and read all the other 1-star reviews. Not only is it amusing, but they've pretty much got the plot holes covered. And there are a lot. I guess what bothered me most were the all CGI aliens. I will never understand the appeal of a CGI creature feature. There is no tension. They're reacting to NOTHING. Also, who has a baby in this environment? And they happen to have the QUIETEST BABY EVER. A shotgun blast is fired in the same room, and, not a peep. The whole hearing-aid-is-the-creature's-Achilles-heel was done in 2009, in Feast III. Only that movie thrived on, and had fun with, absurdity. I'm always weary of PG-13 horror, but this was so well-received. $9 down the tubes.
It's no surprise that Michael Bay was involved with this travesty. This guy has a sordid history with horror movies and remakes. The main problem with most modern horror (and by modern, I'm talking the last decade), is that there is zero attention paid to detail. And this is why you get so many glaring plot holes. All these filmmakers know are tropes. So just string a bunch of them together, and you've got yourself a movie (like A Quiet Place), with no effort made for the world make sense.
