Started off great but . . .
********SPOILER ALERT!! PLEASE DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW SPECIFICS OF THIS BOOK!!!********* Deadly Lies started off great but turned out to be a disappointment. Jill's behavior became more and more outlandish as the story continued and read more like a fantasy. What bothered me initially about Deadly Lies was that it seemed like two separate books, one about Jill and one about Alex. I thought their stories were interesting, in the beginning, but I kept waiting for them to merge. I definitely cared more about Alex and for the majority of the book I wanted him to leave Jill and find happiness with someone else. I just never warmed up to Jill BUT I did try to understand her. Learning about the abuse she suffered from her stepfather, while despicable, just wasn't enough to condone her actions. And men drugging women in order to take advantage of them is not acceptable behavior by any means but I thought there were so many other ways Jill could have chosen to deal with it. I didn't buy it and I grew tired of the drawn out, repetitive scenes of Jill luring in men to kill them. I absolutely hated the ending. The only thing that kept me reading til the end was wanting to see Jill suffer the consequences for her actions. She didn't, though. Alex paid the ultimate price and she basically got to drive off into the sunset. Like always, these are merely my opinions and not all readers will share them.
