MIST OPPORTUNITY - Another faulty fan similar to the lead reviewer - this suggests a quality control issue.
Having had good luck with other Honeywell air products including humidifiers and air cleaners, I was looking forward to using this little unit in my office. Alas - it was not to be. This cute little unobtrusive unit revealed problems right from its initial use.
I've experience other small cool mist humidifiers, I was aware of their relative drawback (a small mist stream, a need for distilled water, as well as a need for frequent cleaning/disinfecting to eliminate bacteria and to keep the vibrating membrane clean).
I did not however, expect immediate problems the first night I used the humidifier. Things started off great - the attractive unit was quiet, produced a great variable stream of mist, and was really quite silent. Unfortunately, at 3 AM that night (!) the fan began buzzing. I tried to ignore it, but within minutes, the volume became intolerable. The tank was full. I tried removing and re-seating the tank. I slapped the motor unit. I tried jostling the unit. Everything. Nothing worked. The fan is quite loud, making this unit unusable.
Perhaps this could have been an isolated incident, but unfortunately, this is the same problem experience by the lead reviewer for this unit, suggesting a quality control issue. This - along with a detachable O-ring washer which if not seated properly results in slight leaks - makes this an unacceptable humidifier.
Note that this is not a true Honeywell product. The box and manual both state that this unit is manufactured by KAZ industries under license for use of the Honeywell trademark. Honeywell can, and should, do better. I actually had to throw this unit out.
