I can't even...
I still gave this a chance after the spoilers... I really wish I hadn't. I started it, and it's a complete stranger to me. It doesn't even READ like a Sookie book. And that upsets me most of all. The other POVs make less than no sense, Sookie in DEA is someone I would NEVER root for (let alone read 12 freaking books about). I won't even bother talking about some of the things that were impossible to stomach as someone who has been reading these for the past decade. Suffice to say, Charlaine... when you were talking about it being a Shakespearean ending, did you actually ever read any Shakespeare? How on EARTH is that a Shakespearean ending? It was the most mundane and pointless ending I have ever read!
*******SPOILERS AHEAD********Honestly, if I had wanted that ending I would have watched any teen romcom from the 90s. It was that exact same formula. Girl is finally happy where she started, everyone SUDDENLY loves her (those that labeled her Crazy Sookie...), and whaddaya know... her bff who has been right under her nose is the guy she ends up with.. but you know.. not in a crazy, passionate, spectacular way.. but because he's always been around. Yay?
Honestly, I've read some bad books. But this made top 3. And the only reason it is upsetting me this much, is because I spent ten years following this supposedly "fun" series, recommending it to people, etc.
And the way Harris is now treating her readers... is appalling. Making them out to be unhinged crazies is honestly low. These people have bought your books for YEARS. Have a little respect. As a successful author, you need to grow a pair when putting your work out there. I honestly find it surprising you can't take criticism. All I hear is you talking about hate and anger. When really.. it's betrayal and disappointment. And you won't even give these people the chance to air their opinions. Why do you even have a public forum and page? The biggest disappointment, I think, for the fans, has been your treatment of them.
