Terrible Experience & I am Celiac.
I am a pretty sensitive celiac & usually do not review products unless I love/hate the item. With that being said, I am only posting this review in case someone else might have these same issues or might need to go in a different direction in terms of enzymes if you are sensitive as well (though I am no doctor by any means) because I would not want anyone to deal with the symptoms I have dealt with due to this product. After getting very sick the last two months (off & on in phases) though I maintain a strict gluten/dairy free diet and never eat out at restaurants, I finally realized after looking back through my food journal that every day I had started feeling terrible and couldn't trace why-I had taken these digestive enzymes the day before. I noticed the pattern because I did not take the enzymes every day (which I am now glad I did not) so I easily could see what had been causing my symptoms but would have never thought the source would have been an enzyme that supposedly was supposed to aid in gluten & dairy digestion among other things. The culprit is the maltase in the ingredient or barley grass (though the bottle also says gluten free). Apparently the argument is that wheat and barley grass are okay if harvested before a certain period when the gluten protein is present (again, I am no scientist or doctor-only summing up what I read). I will skip EVERYTHING including gluten free beer that involves wheat or barley in the process but later supposedly extracts it back out of the product(?), is only gf 20 ppm, or contains wheat germ or the above grasses which some think are safe. I know I react to tiny traces of gluten and cannot believe what I thought was supplementing my health was only compromising it further; please keep in mind I am only telling other celiacs to be cautious if they tend to react easily-I am not saying this product will never help anyone at anytime-this is purely a gluten issue for me and nothing else. I would not recommend this product to my worst enemy. period.
