★★☆☆☆
I really wanted to like it but,
Update: Bit the bullet and installed a Nest Hello and added a picture for comparison. Simply look at the comparison. It's honestly not even close on picture quality and features.
After a week, I've sent it back.
Pros- Easy to install and after some funny business with the network(more later in the con section)
Looks good
Ships with everything you should need to install, even a mason drill bit.
only 99$
Cons
The network issue. Forcing your entire network to use only the 2.4ghz network to set it up. Some just might not be able to make this happen if you are not capable of getting deep into router settings. (5G cant be running at all, or it won't connect). Once connected you can turn back on 5g but if the network goes down after the doorbell is connected, it wouldn't come back up without turning 5g back off them on.
Motion detection needs to be permanently turned off. It is way too sensitive even on the lowest settings. Near constant notifications when motion is on. Here the other kicker, if the motion is on, it'll send you a motion notification but not a ring notification if the person rings the doorbell RIGHT AFTER motion detected. So if you ignore the motion alert, you MISS the person ringing the doorbell. This just flat out blew me away.
If you turn motion off, it only records doorbell pushes which are borderline useless. Why do I need a recording of the interaction I just had. I need to see if things go down I don't know about, like strangers or delivery guys.
It doesn't say anywhere in the marketing that you can only view motion and ring events recording in fisheye. Only in the live you can you change the view. This is a bit frustrating as its hard to make out faces when they are distorted.
They say it integrates with google home. This is a deceiving line as they have a 2 year old applet that lets you say" hey google, talk to remo+" then you can ask for the battery status( it DOESNT have a battery) or what time the last event is. These are absolutely useless. It does not actually integrate with Google home(ecosystem) in any way besides the google assistant app on the Google home(device) which is useless.
Night vision doesn't work at all if you have any sort of porch light. Not the biggest deal but it offers a little view outside of the lighted area. If you have no light where it will be, the night vision works ok.
For reasons stated above, its easy to see why they advertise free 3-day recording. They know their motion is so bad you'll turn it off and not use any cloud.
If you want to talk to someone after they press your doorbell, look no further. If you want a true video doorbell with a lot of features and actual smart home integration, this is not it.
