Skip this book - unless you enjoy being lectured to about politics
This book was atrocious.
It’s not a novel or a story - it’s just preaching about politics.
Conservatives are portrayed by Willa’s angry, scared and very rude father-in-law. Of course, he was the Evil right. This author needs to get over her own political beliefs and just write a novel without taking on the burden of “enlightning” all of us of our evil ways.
Yet, the main character, Willa, is portrayed as a wise, but beaten down liberal - but she was simply whiny. She’s in her 60s and has inherited a house, but all she can do is feel sorry for herself because she doesn’t have the money to fix it up?!? How many of us are fortunate enough to even inherit a house in our lifetime? Geez.
I’ve had it with this entitled adittude and I certainly don’t want to be lectured to when I’m trying to escape and read a novel.
Skip this book unless you want to read a poor, poor me monologue. I only finished it because it’s my book club book this month and I can’t wait to hear everyone else’s opinion! Forget the characters- there is no feeling of any depth to them.
