Can't use without app and account.
It is the middle of the night. Your child is restless and feels hot to the touch. You want to know if the fever needs immediate attention. You go for your smart thermometer, but it's suddenly demanding to be set up again, requiring a smart phone, internet connection, and online account and password.
This might be the status quo with "smart" products, but it is seriously broken design. Nokia designers should know something about "progressive enhancement." A tool should do its basic job no matter what. If I later want to pair it with my smartphone, set up a tracking app / account: all of that should be optional enhancement.
Blocking the basic function of a tool is a design crime.
