Insert Crack
Every small appliance in my kitchen is from KitchenAid Obviously, I am a die hard fan of their products. However, this slow cooker had been a disappointment. In spite of handling the ceramic insert with extreme care and only hand washing it, it developed a hair line crack. I contacted KitchenAid to see if they would replace it as a customer goodwill gesture. I'm waiting for a response. Judging on the many others who have posted that their inserts have also cracked, I am confident KitchenAid will come through. I will follow up on my post when I hear back from KitchenAid.
KitchenAid replied and told me the insert is available $36.99 plus shipping on their website. They also informed me that there isn't really an issue with the cracking insert. They did suggest that anything put into the insert must be room temperature before turning it on(nothing frozen)and sufficient liquid needed to be added as well. I am not able to find the part number on their website. (8212302G)
Bottom line, I'm a very disappointed customer. I spent over $100 on this slow cooker and used it a handful of times. Now, I am faced with replacing it entirely or purchasing another insert for $70 somewhere else since it's NOT on the KitchenAid website.
I do not recommend the KitchenAid slow cooker.
