We've had an older version of this toy for years, and it was getting pretty beat up by our newest cat. I decided that instead of replacing the scratcher and the ball, I might as well just buy a new one, so I threw the old one away. Well, big mistake. They've obviously made some changes over the years, because the quality is nowhere near as good as the one I threw away. My cat played with the old one for over a year now and never managed to get the ball out a single time. Today, within 10 minutes of me unwrapping the toy and putting it on the ground, he got the ball out. I put it back in, and when I came back a few minutes later, that ball was GONE. I mean, I've looked EVERYWHERE and that thing is nowhere to be found. So now I just have a useless piece of scratcher and a cat that keeps looking at me like this is somehow my fault :(
