"...an amazing 2730 degrees!"
They aren't joking. This thing is complete overkill for culinary use. Unless you literally want to char an entire ham or something. In your kitchen. With an actual blowtorch. Using 2730 degrees of fire in the form of a rushing 5-inch flame. And blow through a few cans of butane in under 30 minutes. I give it two stars because it does actually burn stuff, so technically it does *something*, but read on if you'd like to know why I now use a less expensive and superior kitchen torch :) Sadly I have no positive things to say about this item, so I'll just bullet-point the negatives: * does not have anything remotely close to a "low" setting * operating the torch requires turning the red knob on the rear of the item, which I found to be beyond inconvenient because... * item basically has two settings: crazy-hot-3-inch-flame and absurd-over-the-top-2730-degree-5-inch-flame. Seriously you could weld with this, or at least use it to sweat coper pipes or solder brass. * uses a TON of fuel very quickly Since I was unable to work out the logistics of applying this silly tool on a single-serving crème brûlée I returned it and found that there is a torch that has better controls, a superbly useful range of heat/flame, costs about the same as this silly thing, and doesn't blow through a 3-pack of butane every time it gets used - Culinary Torch for Kitchen and the Ultimate Cheese Party - Blow Torch for Cooking Sugar for Crème Brulee Melting Cheese Roasting Peppers and more - Premium Kitchen Torch for Food by Essential Etensil
