Chapter 25 dealing with the Middle East is replete with inaccuracies : "1917 Balfour declaration, in which the British, who were then occupying Palestine committed to create a national home for the Jewish People. " writes the former President. But the declaration is dated November 2, at a time when there were fierce battles for the control of Palestine between the British Armies and the troops of the Ottoman empire which sided with Germany during WWI. It was only on December 11 1917 that general Allenby entered Jerusalem. Mr. Obama seems to be deliberately using "occupation" to delegitimize the Balfour declaration. This is only one sample among many others.
