Sigh. I just returned from our family ranch south of Marfa and was deeply saddened to witness the continued ruination of that once sleepy town by characters very similar to those portrayed in this ridiculous show. The self absorbed ego centric pretensions masquerading as artistic genius while blindly destroying everything around themselves. Yep....this show got that part right. The characters here are shallow and unable to see beyond their petty carnal desires for sex, drugs and money. The wife loses her own chance at "greatness" through selfish greed, so now she's horning in on her husband's fellowship with a famous artistic mentor. Whom she also falls in lust with. Everything about this character is repulsive. The mysterious Dick is played by Kevin Bacon, who, sadly, seems bored and half asleep in every scene. I can't blame him....The dialogue is pitiful. Remember the show Frasier? They pulled off artsy pretensions with grace, humor and intelligent dialogue every week for a decade. This show is just crass.
