OK if you have nothing better to do.
Well, I did read it all through, but then I am a disabled retiree with little to do but read, and not enough money to read all the authors that write better books. These books are all much of a muchness. They are riddled with typos and grammatical errors. One thing that really annoyed me was the amount of “smirking” that goes on. It seems as if hardly a conversation goes by without somebody having smirked at someone else for no particularly good reason.
Lots of aerial battles goes on between fighters, bombers and spaceships. I said aerial deliberately, as, apart from a little sideways jinking, most of the space battles could be relocated into a Top Gun movie. Come to think of it, most of the fighting scenes could be relocated into current times, with battleships, and other vessels. Just have to downgrade the energy weapons and skip the FTL jumps. Also, there are a number of, I think, mistakes in how matter behaves in a vacuum. I am pretty sure that space does not transmit a concussive wave from explosions. Yes, debris flying out, but surely not concussion waves. And, if a missile is fired forward, it will continue to move faster than the fighter, which can’t be flying so fast that it needs to slow down until the missile engine fires.
The characters are fairly flat and undeveloped. There is little to no growth of them, or their relationships, through the book.
Anyway, if you have nothing better to read, this set will pass the time, but you might well get bored and toss it away unfinished.
