Should Have Stayed At Home
This was terrible. Not only were the character shallow, the main character was just psycho mean. She yells at the male love interest over lost luggage, when it wasn't his fault- the reason? She was tired after being up 15 hours. Um, that is a normal day. She assumes things, then asks as if she were lied to, but is wearing a wedding ring, but that isn't misleading. Serious need of editing. At one point she slaps the hero, which ends her anger, but the next sentence she is angry again. At one point they sat down at a table, had a conversation, but then were still standing, only, no, they are sitting. There are things that just don't move the plot (why have the mother call?). This was so bad, so terribly bad. I read it hoping at some point it would make sense, but i wanted to tell the hero to run, just like the fiance did. She actually has the main character thinking things like the hero didn't know his "station". Just rude ideas, and we were supposed to think the heroine wasn't a golddigger, except she takes a vacation the exfiance paid for, rather than pay for herself, and she cancels wedding details, and gives the exfinace half, less the deposit. Why does she get half of what he paid for? You don't even feel bad that she was jilted, because she didn't like the guy anyway. She just seemed to want a wedding and honeymoon. I'm not sure this even needed an editor as much as for the author to read it over again, and use a red pencil, maybe do a second draft. I seldon leave review, but this was so bad, and I have never disliked a character more. There was no reason to like the heroine. Example, she leaves a building in tears. The hero sees and follows her. She is distressed until she decides to stop for salad. The hero finds her and asks if she is ok, and she accuses him of thinking a woman can't enjoy a vacation alone. Um, you were crying. Until the salad, then everything was fine, but most people don't get over a public crying jag so easily...I don't know. Just bad, bad, bad.
