More time consuming than Chemex
I've had a Chemex 6 cup maker for over 5 years. I have always used the Chemex paper filters. I got this Cosori as a gift for someone and had a chance to use it a few times. First, the finished coffee the Cosori holds is a few ounces more than the 6 cup Chemex. To me, a few ounces more is pretty much equal. The coffee grounds that it holds is quite a bit less than the Chemex because of the shape, it's smaller up top than the Chemex. I tried using the Chemex paper filters in the Cosori (without using the included metal mesh filter) and it does not work. The Cosori does not have an air vent (like Chemex does) so the wet grounds bubble up and splash coffee all over. When using the metal filter & the paper filter together, it does not bubble up since the metal filter creates an air gap for air to escape. The worst part about the Cosori: As mentioned, the Cosori is smaller up top than the Chemex so it holds less grounds. MOST IMPORTANTLY it holds less hot water up top while brewing so you have to stand by it and pour 2 ounces of hot water every 20-30 seconds. The cosori is much more time consuming than the Chemex. I can pour 6-7 ounces of water into my Chemex, walk away and come back in a few minutes and pour another 6 ounces. Unless you are retired, have no time schedules in the morning and enjoy the idea of feeding needy-baby-birds 2 ounces at a time, spend the extra $15 and get the Chemex. The coffee pretty much tastes the same as Chemex and the cleaning is the same too.
