I've had an iPod for a long time (about 8+ years). The device itself is pretty amazing, but the software and the quality of Apple support easily makes this a 1 star item. It should be noted that once your iPod is set up, if you connect it to any other computer and attempt to run iTunes it will erase all of the music on your iPod. Also, if you don't buy your music on iTunes, which I don't as it's much cheaper on other websites, it can make managing the music in iTunes a nightmare. As far as the Apple support, I have been lied to, hung up on, and have ended up talking to people who are very rude almost 100% of the time. And they charge $30 to talk to a technician with no guarantee of actually being able to help you. When the iPod works, it works well but when it doesn't the chances of you being able to resolve the issue without paying a substantial fee is almost nonexistent. Also, the amount of time I have spent over the years tying to get iTunes to work and constantly trying to figure out the new iTunes software (which is released very frequently) adds up to an impressive amount of hours. I would not recommend this to any of my friends or family.
