DW9280 LEAKS! Customer Service not acceptable! 3rd try wasn't a charm, either!
I have owned several Rowenta irons over the years, each one lasting, on average, 3-4 years. But I do iron and sew a lot, and I appreciate the 400 steam holes and narrow point of the sole plate, so I "bite the bullet" and pay a premium for the Rowenta. I bought this DW9280 just 5 months ago, and it leaked a huge puddle on the ironing board, while it was in auto shut-off mode---between sewing/pressing steps! Still under warranty! Do you think the warranty is worth anything? We'll see. It's been 2 weeks since I notified the company, in order to send the iron back. In the meantime, I dragged out a 7 year old, less expensive Rowenta, which had never gotten hot enough, just to press a few blouses. Yep. It Leaked also!! Beware!
The saga continues:
Within 1 week from sending my #9280 to be repaired, per Rowenta Customer Service instructions, an iron was delivered to me. WOW, record time, I thought. Nope. In the box was a filthy #9280 with a different manufacturing date. My leaky iron was in pristine condition, but the replacement iron was scratched on both the blue exterior and the soleplate. The cord was very grubby, too. Obviously, this iron hadn't been well cared for. This is unacceptable "service!"
I'll keep this review updated.....
Chapter #3: Another repaired #9280 arrived within a week after my prior review. Hoping it was my original, very clean iron in the box, I was disappointed to find a well-used iron with a wet soleplate, dripping calcium residue around the steam holes. Obviously, the iron had been tested and passed; that indeed, it does make steam. But did the previous owner have well-water, rusty water, etc? Who knows? It's a crap shoot and Rowenta doesn't give a crap about their customers. They hope I'll just go away. Sadly, how much stress do I really need? So I filled the reservoir with clean water and cleaned the messy iron myself. It's sitting on a shelf as an emergency back-up iron. No more Rowenta customer service for me. As my grandson used to say, "All-done, all done!"
Hmmmm---does anyone read these reviews? I hope so.
