Did you know...?
Buyers may be surprised to find, as I was, that Davis Weatherlink software will NOT upload to wunderground, it will only connect to the Davis website.
If you intend to upload your weather data to wunderground you'll need Davis Weatherlink AND third-party software. The Weatherlink software operates with the required data-logger expansion module to connect your computer to the Davis console, then you'll need something like Virtual Weather Station to upload to wunderground. Weatherlink and VWS must both run at the same time on your computer. (Full disclosure: you can also use Cumulus, which is a free download at the Ambient Weather website. I use VWS because I already have it installed on my computer.) None of the Davis tech manuals tell you about any of this. The Davis website doesn't either.
The entire Davis system really needs to be upgraded to the 21st century. Weatherlink looks like MS-DOS from 25 years ago and it's NOT intuitive. I spent half an hour looking at a gray screen before I figured out how to get the "billboard" to display. The data-logger should be built into the console with a USB connector on the side of the console. I resent paying a premium price for a quality system and then finding out that if I actually want it to display on my new-fangled computer-thingy I have to buy more premium-priced equipment. And THEN I find out that it will only upload to Davis' website unless I install even MORE software.
By the time you finally get your weather data to wunderground any budget you may have had has long-since been busted.
Mine runs fine on Windows7/64bit.
