It is incredible to me that this piece of garbage is a best-seller! I could not be more disappointed in this thing, even at the low price at which it is offered. Oh, where to begin... This thing is awful. Many screws on it came cross-threaded, leaving you to resort to pliers just to make any adjustment. Which is impractical to say the least. The clips have sharp, scratchy teeth and high spring tension which will easily damage most anything I can think of to solder (Circuit boards, wire, jewelry, small metal figurines or models...). Base is insufficiently broad or heavy to balance all that is mounted on it without tipping, particularly once you add whatever you are working on and any pressure at all from your soldering iron! Garbage piece and bad quality. Best seller status must be due to price AND non-return-ability. -The worst part is that it is only when you try to return it that you learn it is not returnable. -There is no way to know that beforehand (as of writing this). **$** IMPORTANT to know about Amazon: I couldn't believe that last part. So I consulted with customer support, here's the pertinent part of the transcript: Me: Can you please also advise me as to how I could have known before purchasing it that it was not returnable. (And also, WHY isn't it returnable?) Amazon: There are selected items on amazon website that are tagged as not returnable. Me: Ok, where is it tagged as non-returnable? That is my question. Amazon: You will not find the item as not returnable until you have requested for a return label. The system will not allow you to return the item. WOW Amazon. This is a very underhanded way of taking someone's money! Shadiness is shadiness. ...and I liked you so much before.
