I love the concept of The Clapper and had one years ago but also remember the same issue with the one that I recently tried again. I thought maybe the functionality had improved over the years. Sadly, it has not. I returned it. Unless the contraption is out in the open, the claps are not heard regularly. I got very tired of having to clap 16 times to get it to work while I was in bed. 90% of the time I had to bend over towards the outlet which defeats the entire purpose. I could have turned the light off at that rate myself. I had it plugged into an outlet behind my nightstand. So unless you're going to use this completely out in the open and unblocked by any object, it becomes more frustrating than it's worth in my opinion.
