Manufactured in China; Assembled in New Jersey
Assembly: Nowhere in the product description does Rowenta disclose that this fan ships in parts that needs to be assembled by the customer. I have never bought a fan, ANY fan, that required assembly. For Rowenta to sell an expensive product like this and to expect the buyer to assemble it -- and without disclosing it in the product description -- is totally unethical. Rowenta's conduct is really outrageously frugal considering that this is a product manufactured in China. It should be also be noted that the diagrammatic assembly instructions are poor; Rowenta won't even spend the money to print assembly instructions in various languages.
Performance/Power: This is a powerful fan that rotates a lot of air. However, it is not any more powerful then the average fan.
Turbo/Boost Feature: Nonsense. This is nothing more then putting the fan at its highest speed.
Performance/Noise Level: The noise level of this fan is indeed quite low on the lowest power setting. However, on anything but the lowest power setting, the noise level is no lower then any other average fan.
Silent/Night Feature: More nonsense. This feature just reduces the fan speed to its lowest setting
Overall assessment: Between the required assembly and unsupported claims of lower noise level (except at lowest power) and higher power/efficiency, this fan is overpriced and a poor value. There is a lot of marketing hype built into this product. It is disappointing to see a company like Rowenta, that had been associated with premium quality in the past, be reduced to maximizing its margins by requiring the consumer to assemble the product and tricking consumers with questionable marketing and misleading claims.
