Snapped handles on TWO of them within a month.
After thinking the first broken handle was a fluke, I bought a second basket. It's Rubbermaid after all and they don't manufacture crap, right? Umm...Sadly, yes. This basket must be made of baby feelings because it falls apart at the slightest stress. Not partially. Not occasionally. Not justifiably under extenuating circumstances. Think Sam Jackson in "Unbreakable." Think eggs at the bottom of a grocery bag. It's like carrying laundry in an ice cream cone. Both of mine snapped handles in the first week. Pretty obvious why on inspection: the basket is one molded piece of anorexic plastic with embarrassingly semi-hard LEGO type handles clicked on top. And like LEGOS, they pop apart easily letting gravity have its way with the flimsy single-ply handle base crackling like a dry leaf beneath it. "Exaggeration," you say. "Been carrying BRICKS in it or something?" Your tone is beyond skeptical, it's accusatory and dripping disdain. Your faith is strong in Rubbermaid's legend and lore, and you're not quick to believe some crank and his domestic heresies. But you're a victim of your own loyalty and you're devoted to a traitor. But don't take my word for it. Swing by Target and look one of these over. Notice the awkward amount of flex in that ergonomic body curve and how it strains the handle above it. Notice the gray LEGOS weakly clipped where sturdy reinforced handles should be. Peek underneath and have a laugh at how ridiculously over-extruded this whole brittle joke of a product is. Then turn your fresh burning derision toward the penny-pinching corner-cutters who conceived it while daydreaming of a bonus built upon the curses of we lowly mob who humbly wash our own clothes. Fie on thee, Rubbermaid execs, for abusing a trusting public and the once proud brand name you have now laid low.
